Creating reports and dashboards

To build reports and dashboards, the Stimulsoft BI Server system uses Stimulsoft Reports, which provides the necessary functionality for creating report templates, and Stimulsoft Dashboards, which contains everything you need to work with analytics panels. You can create both simple reports on several pages and complex ones with rich graphics and nested structures, multi-page documents, and clear interactive dashboards. Various charts, cross-tabs, barcodes, geometric primitives, and various formatting tools are supported to design informative reports and stunning dashboards.

For creating and modifying report templates, each type of client application uses its built-in designer that is not different from other parts of the program. It is easy to use and does not require running additional applications.

Scheduler

The scheduler is a description of the required actions and events, triggered without direct user action. The incredibly flexible scheduler allows you to program any event by time – from a simple single run to national holidays (and even Easter, each year falling on a different date) with a time shift. Activity ranges of the scheduler are available, as well as cyclic recurrences and exceptions. The object Calendar allows collecting a list of dates logically related to each other. In this case, the scheduler takes time zones into account and has a deadline for the execution of actions in which one can run reports, copy items, send email messages as information for users about the events and even run nested schedulers. Actions can be created within a single scheduler and consistently executed without any user intervention.

Import and Export of Data

Stimulsoft BI Server supports connections to a wide range of data sources, including MS SQL, Firebird, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and others, and is compatible with all standard OData protocol types. It can obtain data from XML, JSON, Excel, and various other file sources. Support for multiple data formats allows simple integration of Stimulsoft BI Server into a corporate environment without requiring changes to existing services.

The report server allows exporting electronic documents in various formats for corporate document management, including PDF, Word, Excel, OpenDocument Writer, HTML, TXT, and more. A key advantage of our system is that exports to all supported formats are controlled by using internal libraries, without the need to install third-party software.

High security level

Stimulsoft BI Server includes several tools that considerably improve the safety and security of data. This is critical for the functioning of the corporate environment. In the "ecosystem" of the reports and dashboards server, we use a role-based user control of access to the data and various components of the system. It allows you to flexibly configure the rights for different categories of users, disabling some functionality to reduce the potential risk of data loss or damage.

Also, the system of versioning reports and dashboards, and their snapshots allow preventing data loss in case of software errors of connected data sources and user actions. If you modify the report template in the designer, the old version of the report is still available and, if necessary, can be activated. Rendered report with data is called a report snapshot. It also has versions accessible from the user interface or API. Moreover, the server can create data snapshots from the selected data source to display a report with data at the required time.

Secure protocols with encryption and access control to the data on the server-side provide high security of the client-server system.
